Following earlier announcements that a dedicated app would be coming to iPad, Meta has finally launched the iPad-compatible version of WhatsApp on the Apple App Store, allowing users to enjoy the app’s features on a larger display.
The iPad version of WhatsApp offers functionality largely identical to its iPhone counterpart, supporting up to 32 participants in simultaneous video or voice calls. Users can also capture and share media using both the front and rear cameras of their device.
In terms of user experience, WhatsApp for iPad integrates seamlessly with iPadOS’s multitasking interface, and on certain iPad Pro models, it supports the Stage Manager feature for enhanced multitasking capabilities.
For input, users can type with the Magic Keyboard or handwrite messages using the Apple Pencil—freeing them from the limitations of typing on the smaller iPhone screen.
Meta also confirmed that the iPad version of WhatsApp will sync with versions used on iPhone and Mac, with all communications protected through end-to-end encryption. Additionally, the app includes enhanced privacy features to safeguard conversation content.
